Over 40 years ago a cult series appeared on TV. It inspired a theatrical film and a video game and talked about the life of two Southern California police detectives. This is Starsky & Hutch, the American action television series broadcast from April 1975 to May 1979. After four decades, it may come back on TV.

According to The Wrap and Variety (and many other websites), Sony Pictures Television announced the reboot of the classic TV cop series, and James Gunn (director of “Guardians Of The Galaxy”) will be the executive producer and the scripts writer along with his brother Brian and his cousin Mark Gunn (screenplay writer of “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island”).

In 2004 Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson starred on the theatrical film which was the comedy/crime adaptation. But now it might be a “serious stuff” and people will enjoy it from the comfort of their couch…for the second time.

The cast is still unknown, while James Gunn, on his official Twitter profile, wrote:

Therefore, we will wait for an official announcement by both James Gunn and Sony TV with all the details or even a denial.

In the meantime, let’s enjoy the opening and closing theme from the original classic Starsky And Hutch TV series, immersed in a funky and groovy atmosphere.

Did you like Starsky And Hutch series? What about the film? Would you be happy to see it again on TV with a reboot?
