Republic of Dagestan, Southern Russian region – in an ordinary day, along one of the streets, something astonishing happened. An amateur video caught on camera what it looked like a sandstorm on the horizon approaching the viewer. But when the driver reached the cloud he realized it was a giant mass of bugs: a swarm of locust crossing the road.
“Locusts are related to grasshoppers and the two insects look similar. However, locust behaviour can be something else entirely. Locusts are sometimes solitary insects with lifestyles much like grasshoppers. But locusts have another behavioural phase called the gregarious phase. When environmental conditions produce many green plants and promote breeding, locusts can congregate into thick, mobile, ravenous swarms.”

So an incredible infestation was going on in Russia at the end of June, where more than 100,000 hectares of agricultural land has been literally devoured by the invertebrate herbivore insects. The plague was so massive that it prompted the authorities to declare an emergency.
Various measures were taken to tackle the issue, such as spraying pesticides from tractors and aeroplanes, but the “invasion” was devastating. Since early summer, “armies of locusts” have been eating through the farmlands, destroying crops and grazing.
A Local Russian resident said: “There are a lot of locusts. You can see how many of them are here. They devour everything. They destroy green fields and there is nothing, just bare ground. There are the greens over there, which they have not yet reached. It makes no difference for them: trees, shrubs or grass. If they devour it all, the cattle will have nowhere to graze. We would not know what to do then.”
Is it a Locusts plague like happened in Egypt during Moses period? Or part of the seven last plagues, that will come at the end of time, the book of Revelation talks about?
It’s up to you to decide what to believe in. In the meantime, watch the invasion taking place on this videos.
