Our society and all the previous ones always needed energy to do human activities. The more the energy the more the possibilities -Ed.
Whatever is the source, we always struggle with the scarcity of the energy compared to our limitless “appetite”. Sometimes it’s not enough, sometimes it’s dangerous and polluting. Therefore, we researched brand new ways to obtain our energy from clean and safe sources and one of these is the sun.
Solar power is produced by collecting sunlight and converting it into electricity. This is done by using solar panels, which are large flat panels made up of many individual solar cells. It is most often used in remote locations, although it is becoming more popular in urban areas as well.
Now there is a company that found a way to give solar power even during night: Tesla. Thanks to their new solar farm, they will power Hawaii at night. Tesla is supplying the island of Kauai with 54,978 solar panels. 272 Powerpack batteries will store surplus power during the day. This will allow solar-generated power to be used at night.
It’s a joint project between Tesla and the Kauai Island Utility Cooperation. The 20 year power contract will be launched in phases as fossil fuel generation is cut. These “providential” solar panels will eventually save 1.6 million gallons of diesel each year – and part of the planet with it.
Tesla is investing heavily in solar power. It’s also powering the island of Ta’u in American Samoa with solar energy. The Hawaiian project is a glimpse into the future of solar, day and night.
