1. Reggio Emilia AV Mediopadana Train Station, Italy
Opened in 2013, it’s one of the newest railway stations. With a futurist wave shape, it’s been designed by Santiago Calatrava. The roof construction is composed of 19 modules, each of which is made up of a stepped series of 25 steel elements positioned about 1 metre apart. You can find more details here.
2. Kanazawa Station, Ishikawa, Japan
A place where one of the most futurist stations in the world meets the past and tradition with the famous “Tsuzumi Gate”, symbol of the Kanazawa Station.
3. Strasbourg Train Station, France
Called “Gare de Strasbourg” in French language, it’s the second largest train station in the country. What’s cool? A flying saucer-shaped façade made of glass that encloses the original 19th-century old architecture ‘hidden inside’ and that you can glimpse through the glass itself.
4. Grand Central Terminal (GCT), New York
Built in 1903 and with 44 platforms and over 100 tracks, it’s the largest station in the world and one of the world’s most visited tourist attractions. It’s been used as a set for a lot of films such as “The Godfather”

Santiago Calatrava’s sleek, curvaceous train station in Liège has earned the contemporary architect countless accolades and attracts architecture buffs to this small Belgian city. Made of steel, glass, and white concrete, the station seems to bring the outside in, with light pouring in through the windows and skylights.
6. Haydarpaşa Terminal, İstanbul, Turkey
Whilst Shinjuku Station is the busiest in the world, Haydarpasa was the busiest in East Europe. It’s currently not operating due to the renovation of tracks.
7. Chhatrapati Shivaju Terminus (CSMT), Mumbai, Maharashtra, India
Formerly known as “Victoria Terminus” this is a historic railway station and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
